IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT WIRE FRAUD:
Despite efforts by the title industry and others to protect and educate consumers about the risk, homebuyers continue to be targeted by criminal attempts to defraud and divert their earnest money deposits or other closing funds.
These criminals will attempt to hack into your email account or the email account of other persons involved in your transaction. They use this access to find transaction patterns and details to make their fraudulent communications appear legitimate and will direct you to wire funds to the hacker’s account.
Never trust changes to wiring instructions sent via email. Always independently confirm wiring instructions in person or via telephone call to a trusted and verified phone number just before wiring the funds. Never wire money without double-checking that the wiring instructions are correct.
We take many precautions to prevent consumer fraud, such as the use of secure and encrypted email communication. We will never change wiring instructions during the course of a transaction. Likewise, we do not accept changes to wiring instructions via email.
If you have received communication that you believe to be fraudulent, contact your escrow closer immediately or call us at 402-333-8100.
